Rosie’s Trust is here for people.
When someone faces a cancer diagnosis, disability or terminal illness, their whole world changes. They have so much to worry about, so much to deal with and the one thing they need – especially those living alone – is the emotional support that their companion pet provides.
If they can’t take care of their pet as well as before, it can make them worry even more about their pet’s wellbeing and only adds to an already stressful situation.
At the most stressful time of their lives, people may be forced to give up their companion pets and, in so doing, experience tremendous loss, isolation and feelings of guilt.
Some people have also told us that they have delayed or even refused treatment because they had no one to look after their pet.
Rosie’s Trust prevents people from having to make such terrible choices.
Our support means people can focus on their own health and wellbeing, while our volunteers take care of the practical sides of pet care. Our volunteers can also provide a check-in service for people living alone as well as signposting to other support available.
