It’s Pancake Tuesday and why should our four-legged friends miss out on all the fun?
We’re often asked if pancakes are ok for dogs to eat?
And with all treats, the simple answer is YES in moderation…
If you’re buying ready made pancakes, it’s important to check the ingredients and make sure there are none toxic to dogs such as raisins or chocolate or that there are no specific ingredients that your dog is allergic to – for example milk.
You could also try making your own batter using just eggs, flour and substituting milk for water or oat milk.
Mix all the ingredients together to the consistency of batter, you might need to use a blender and then fry in a small amount of oil.
Give the sweet toppings like nutella, syrup or sugar a miss and swap them for mashed banana, apple, or even a touch of peanut butter – avoiding peanut butter with xylitol as this can be toxic for dogs!
Please remember that treats, like delicious dog friendly pancakes, should form part of your dog’s overall daily food intake – keeping your dog at a healthy weight is essential for their health and well-being.
