We caught up with Team Dougal to ask them a couple of questions about Dougal…
How many walks a week does Dougal get?
Dougal has 2-4 walks each week.
Volunteer, Emma-Kate said Dougal gets out a lot for a wee old man. He’s very active and willing to go for walks.
Where does Dougal like to walk?
Hazel said Dougal has his usual circuit, but he certainly likes to lead me astray at times by venturing off his normal track. He’ll usually correct himself, but he will always do it in his own time.
Erin said I can vouch for this too; he has his same old walk round the block he likes to do and with me sometimes he’ll take the head staggers and decide to go a different way and you cannot convince him otherwise! Same goes for if he decides he doesn’t want to venture out too far that day, or if he gets to the neighbour’s house that sometimes gives him a wee treat then he anchors are on until he gets it!
Emma-Kate said he’s such a character when I walk him he just seems to take himself on a wee stroll even when I try and stay on route. A stubborn dog on his walks as well. If he’s done, he’s done and will make sure you walk him home.
Carolyn said let’s just say Dougal is a boy (as I often think sometimes after a sniff, he sets off again as if he is a pup!) who knows his own mind and route. Because he kept putting the brakes on at that neighbour’s house near the end of his walk with me, I now bring my own treats and now I can’t get to the end of his own road before he stops and expects a treat before moving off. I’m being well and truly played by him!
The nice neighbour only ever came out once with me and he always stood his ground at that spot as the others say so I had to resort to bribery myself!
Dougal sounds likes such a character, can you tell us anything else about his personality?
Hazel said Dougal is very well behaved. He loves to see other dogs when he is out and about to say hello. I love him, well, how could you not. Simple as!
Erin said he is a wee man set in his ways. Mr Dougal is just a very, very good boy, a real charmer and a ladies’ man.
Emma-Kate said Dougal is always a very happy dog and even when I haven’t walked him in a while, he still remembers me. Such a lovable pup.
Carolyn said he genuinely is a lovely old man and I get a lovely woof when he sees me. It’s clear he and Margot have a great bond as well.
We hope you’ve loved learning about Dougal as much as we enjoyed chatting to Team Dougal.
