It’s so important to share stories of kindness and hope. We work each and every day to support as many people and their pets as possible in NI – we want to be there for them when they need us most.
In this case study, we are focusing on Morag and Harvey’s story. We spoke to Morag about the real importance of Rosie’s Trust in her life, and how she reached out when she really needed support. Her beloved dog Harvey is an 8 year old Sprocker Spaniel, absolutely FULL of life, a real bundle of fun! When Morag wasn’t well enough to take Harvey out for his walks, Team RT stepped in. We also had a chat with one of the RT volunteers, Aisling, to discuss what volunteering with Harvey means to her.
Morag tells us her story in her own words:
“I first heard of Rosie’s Trust during my first cancer journey, so when I got my second cancer diagnosis, I contacted them. I required a lobectomy so I could not walk Harvey, but Rosie’s Trust came to my rescue.
I am so grateful to Rosie’s Trust and their volunteers for their ongoing help which has enabled me to care for Harvey.
It is so important to note that Rosie’s Trust is not only there to support older people, but also to help in situations like mine – to be there with a reassurance of fostering, to support me, and to lean on in times of need.”
Aisling is one of the lovely volunteers on Team Harvey. Here’s what she had to say about her time visiting with Harvey:
“I absolutely love volunteering! I think it’s very rewarding and I enjoy meeting the dogs. And I love Harvey – he is so cool.
Rosie’s Trust is a great charity. Everyone is so helpful and I have learnt so much that am using my learning at home with my dog. It has been amazing.”
