With winter in full swing, it’s important to remember to take extra care.
If you live in an area where the pavements have been gritted, please remember to wash or wipe down our beneficiaries’ dog’s paws after walks. Here’s why:
1️⃣ Grit can irritate their paws: The salt and grit used to de-ice pavements can be harsh on your dog’s delicate paws. It can cause dryness, cracking, and even chemical burns. Washing their paws after walks helps remove any residue and prevents discomfort.
2️⃣ Ingesting grit can be harmful: Dogs often lick their paws, and if they’ve walked on gritted surfaces, they may ingest the salt and chemicals. Washing their paws helps minimise the risk of ingestion.
A little extra care goes a long way in keeping our dogs happy and healthy. So, after those winter walks, take a few minutes to wash the paws and keep them safe from the potential harm of gritted pavements.
