We caught up with Ruth Pinkerton, one of our longest serving volunteers recently and asked her to share few facts about herself!
How long have you been volunteering for Rosie’s Trust?
I’ve been with Rosie’s Trust for 7 years now.
What motivated you to volunteer for Rosie’s Trust?
My love of animals. I was retiring and wanted to do something worthwhile with my time and I just really fell in love with the ethos of Rosie’s Trust.
What’s been your favourite volunteering role with Rosie’s Trust?
I have loved all of my roles with Rosie’s Trust but I’d have to go with Dog Support Volunteer as I love the contact with the beneficiary and their pet.
(Ruth is also a Co-ordinator, Telephone Volunteer AND on our Ambassador Team)
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
Fun fact? Gosh, this is tough! OK take your pick…
I love the outdoors and one of the ways I enjoy this is by volunteering for the National Trust.
I also really enjoy cold water swimming but I’m not crazy enough to do it over the winter months.
I have a really silly sense of humour. I used to dress up at work to trick my colleagues. One time, I dressed up as a domestic and went into a colleagues office… took him some before he realised it was me.
(we had to share them all!)
Ok, here’s the all important question do you prefer cats or dogs?
I love and have both but dogs are my favourite.
Thanks to Ruth for the catch-up. Stay tuned for another Meet the Volunteer in the future!
